Digital History: The Kennedy Trials

1964 ''Welcom to the Kennedy Trials!'' Your job is to find out how Kennedy was assinated. Was there a second shooter? Who was responsable? Where did they shoot from? I reccomend that to start we look at the scene of the crime. [[Look at the scene]]

Here's what we know so far: Kennedy was shot in his car on his way thorugh Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas, Texas. [[Look at the scene]]

Oswald was an ex-military Marine Corp who had a long term background in communisim (from 15 until death). He deffected to the USSR which resulted in his discharge from the military. <img src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d6/Lee_harvey_oswald.jpg" width="300" height="400" alt="Two Shot"> He was a diffucult soilder who had a problem with authority in practice and who would offten push boundrys to get attention that he would later claim was unfair as a way to try and gain sympathy or prove that he was getting picked on by the officers. When looking to get his discharge removed he wrote in to the Governer of Texas at the time: Governor Connally. The plea was refused leading the us to reasearch into if the Govner was the real target however the fact that Oswald could of shot the Govner at easier points in time lead us to believe that the Presedent was the real target. Even his wife thought for a time that Oswald was aiming for the Govner. So, [[Why shoot the Presedent?]]

Well Ok then lets see you prove your theory and luckily for you you have just the chance with President Lyndon B. Johnson setting up an investigation into Kennedys death. There is no evidence of a shooter on the Knoll however there is a man under the name of Abraham Zapruder who bought his camera to record seeing the president. In this video we can see the trajectory of the bullets and when Kennedy get's hit. Here is a good look at the expance of the rail road. Was there any sign of weaponry? Surely if there was a gun fired there would be some sign of it up here. //''Speculation''.--A rifle cartridge was recovered on the overpass.// //''Commission finding.''--No cartridge of any kind was found on the overpass nor has any witness come forward to claim having found one. (official report pg640 appendix 12)// This shows that if the shot's were fired from up here then the assassin must have cleaned up very quickly behind themselevs. We can still look around more though. Witness accounts are as shown with accounts and findings. //''Speculation''--The railroad overpass was left unguarded on November 22. ''Commission finding.''--On November 22 the railroad overpass was guarded by two Dallas policemen, Patrolmen J. W. Foster and J. C. White, who have testified that they permitted only railroad personnel on the overpass. ''Speculation.''--There are witnesses who alleged that the shots came from the overpass. ''Commission finding.''-- The Commission does not have knowledge of any witnesses who saw shots fired from the overpass. Statements or depositions from the 2 policemen and 13 railroad employees who were on the overpass all affirm that no shots were fired from the overpass. Most of these witnesses who discussed the source of the shots stated that they came from the direction of Elm and Houston Streets. (official report pg640, apendix 12)// This obviously shows that the killer could not have been on the bridge without being seen unless we are accusing everybody on the bridge who has been sepretley interviewed to be lying. Investigation shows the bullets hit from behind and no damage was found in the front window strongly seggesting that the shooter could not have been up on the bridge. This shows that the bullet must have come from one of the other locations. You can however, [[Look for physical evidence on the bridge]] or [[Ask for witnesses of the shooting from the bridge]]. Other wise we seggest going back to [[Look at the scene]] again.

The official report states: //The cumulative evidence of eyewitnesses, firearms and ballistic experts and medical authorities demonstrated that the shots were fired from above and behind President Kennedy and Governor Connally, more particularly, from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository Building. In order to determine the facts with as much precision as possible and to insure that all data were consistent with the shots having been fired from the sixth floor window, the Commission requested additional investigation, including the analysis of motion picture films of the assassination and onsite tests. The facts developed through this. investigation by the FBI and Secret Service confirmed the conclusions reached by the Commission regarding the source and trajectory of the shots which hit the President and the Governor. Moreover, these facts enabled the Commission to make certain approximations regarding the locations of the Presidential limousine at the time of the shots and the relevant time intervals. There were multiple witnesses to the shooting some [[inside]] who state that they heard it and some [[outside]] that state that they saw the shooter when they looked up. The consensuss is that the shots came from the second floor with 3 being shot in total. Workers were on the fifth floor to watch the president passing through. They report: //...and I can't remember what the exact time was but I know I heard a shot, and then after I heard the shot, well, it seems as though the President, you know, slumped or something, and then another shot and I believe Jarman or someone told me, he said, "I believe someone is shooting at the President," and I think I made a statement "It is someone shooting at the President, and I believe it came from up above us." Well, I couldn't see at all during the time but I know I heard a third shot fired, and I could also hear something sounded like the shell hulls hitting the floor and the ejecting of the rifle... // //..because I did not know what was happening. The second shot, it sounded like it was right in the building, the second and third shot. And it sounded--it even shook the building, the side we were on. Cement fell on my head. Q. You say cement fell on your head? A. Cement, gravel, dirt, or something, from the old building, because it shook the windows and everything. Harold was sitting next to me, and he said it came right from over our head.// //Well, after the third shot was fired, I think I got up and I run over to Harold Norman and Bonnie Ray Williams, and told them, I said, I told them that it wasn't a backfire or anything, that somebody was shooting at the President (full report pg70-72 chapter 12)// The investigation shows that none of the men were involved but there knoledge helpped place the assassin. Three people in particular managed to see the shooter from outside of the depositry. There was [[Howard L. Brennan]], a 45-year-old steamfitter, watched the motorcade from a concrete retaining wall at the southwest corner of Elm and Houston, where he had a clear view of the south side of the Depository Building. Amos Lee Euins, a 15-year-old ninth grade student, stated that he was facing the Depository as the motorcade turned the corner at Elm and Houston. And [[Robert H. Jackson]], staff photographer, Dallas Times Herald, who was in a press car in the Presidential motorcade, eight or nine cars from the front.

The witnesses on the bridge are all officials of the state and Construction workers. In this particuallar state Presedent Kennedy was particually disliked and before his arrival there was a send out of a list of complaints writen as a welcome notice in the papers. This is not the only issue, two of the men in the car say they only heard two shot's from one area and a whistle from a diffrent direction (almost like a silencer). This is particually important as both these men where of high training. This leads to the question of who would want to kill the Presedent and why? [[Next]]

The presedent released information about the CIA's involvment in Vietnam and he was planning on pulling troops out. This would be seen to reflect badly on the presedency but also this information was ment to remain top secret. This information leak could be what caused the assassination to happen. He also addmitted to America assassinating Diem which again caused alot of unwanted questions to be asked. In relation to the cold war he also had the embarisment of the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis. While America was told that it was the power of there country that scared the Russians into removing there missiles it was actually a secret deal between the two countrys that meant America had to remove some of there missiles. The 'who' is possibley a well known assassin of the CIA who would be sent in to get the job done. David Sanchez Moralesn claims that he was there when the assassination happened which concidering his back log is the assassination of political figures of importance there is a susspicion about his activertys. Especcially when he also claimed to of been at the assassination of Bobby Kenerdy who wanted to re-open the case on his brothers assassination. The brain of Kennedy is missing which would tell us the trajectory of the bullet and the dirrection the bullet was coming from. We know it was requested for by his brother but after that it has never been seen again as far the public is aware though if it has actually been seen but is in secret archives who knows. Even if the shooting didn't come from the CIA's gun it is susspected that they helped Oswald with the planning and making sure that he was in the right place at the right time. Reports also show that about 40% of the crowd only heard two gun shots even though there were 3 wounds which questions why none of these were adressed in the Warren Commision unless the goverment or one of their groups had something to do with the assassination. The shooting of Oswald is awfully suspisious as the circumstances ment that Oswald never had a chance to be fully interviewd and therefore any information he may have had on accomplices was lost with him. You are now a conspiracy theorist and your distrust gets you removed from the Warren Commision. You go around for the rest of your life distrusting everyone and everything. This stress leads you to an early death. Kennedy remains the perfect martyr for the continuing of the Cold War especially following the Bay of Pigs incident and the Cuban Missile Crisis. You are forgotten and your suspissions are burried with you.

//Well, then something, just right after this explosion, made me think that it was a firecracker being thrown from the Texas Book Store. And I glanced up. And this man that I saw previous was aiming for his last shot// This is part of what Brennan stated, he also mentioned that he saw between 70-85% of the gun. This also matches up with [[Amos Lee Euins]] report of events.

//Then I was standing here, and as the motorcade turned the corner, I was facing, looking dead at the building. And so I seen this pipe thing sticking out the window. I wasn't paying too much attention to it. Then when the first shot was fired, I started looking around, thinking it was a backfire. Everybody else started looking around. Then I looked up at the window, and he shot again.// Here we can see that the gun wqas clearly visable from multiple angles which gives credince to [[Howard L. Brennan]]'s report. This also agree's with [[Robert H. Jackson]]'s view.

//Then after the last shot, I guess all of us were just looking all around and I just looked straight up ahead of me which would have been looking at the School Book Depository and I noticed two Negro men in a window straining to see directly above them, and my eyes followed right on up to the window above them and I saw the rifle or what looked like a rifle approximately half of the weapon.// Here we can see that we have witnesses [[inside]] the building who might be able to give us more of an account.

Reports from people that knew him state that he would never have been comftable in the world of today with his politicial leanings. He wanted a place in History and would thow himself entirely into any activerty. He had grown to hate the USA and complained of its segrigatoion, inequality and explotation of its workers. After moving to the USSR he founded out that Communism was not actually being put into play as he expected with his hattred of authority rising again. This made him feel as if he had no place in either world damaging his mental state. In his move to Dallas his dislike of Kennedy might have started here as the genral feel towards him was very anti-Kennedy due to his growing policys towards black equality as well as peaceful negotiation or removal of troops from war grounds. With his mental instablility Oswald would have been very easy to influence. He admits that he killed the policeman however he is denying anything to do with the assassination of Presedent Kennedy. In moving him to a more secure holding place Oswald is shot by Jack Ruby a local night club manager. This is unfortanate as he was your only real lead. It's OK though we can look into Jack Ruby but apart from that as you point out we have sufficent evediance to prove that Oswald is the assassin! Lets [[look into Ruby]].

Jack Ruby is a Club Manager with a mititary background and a keen enjoyment of gambling. He has no underworld ties in relation to Organized crime. He did however have very close friendly relations with the Dalllas Police force. This leads us to think that Ruby was not just angry for the death of Presedent Kennedy but also the death J.D.Tippit the police man who was killed. From this we manage to close the case!
